Kortpad took advange of womans day and made it a long weekend to escape to KUBU island.
If you don’t know kubu island –it is a dry granite rock island located in the Makgadikgadi Pan area of Botswana. And you don’t want to be there after or during the rains, you might just overstay your welcome.
There are of course various kortpaaie to Kubu and the conditions to get there are very challenging as well as rewarding.
You really have to have good driving skills to drive to as well as on the pans. Kortpad was involved in three rescue operations in the sort time we were there (and even had some problems of our own)!
Conditions are harsh – no water , no fuel, no cell phone signal, so you need to plan well. But it has a long drop with a fantastic view!
Kubu has the most brilliant stars at night, magical sunsets and sunrises – this is a bucket list item.
